les poulets

Here's what the chickens look like today. The young grey pullet is becoming very beautiful, the turken is still the homeliest bird on the planet, and the newest chicks have started to grow tails.

Poor turkey is quite homely looking! Cherry says she'll help him get over that :)

The turken says, "Hey, I'm a hen!"

Is a turken a turkey/chicken cross? Never heard of them before, weird... and a little ugly!

No turkey involved; the name reflects their resemblance to a turkey, nothing more. My two turken hens were a "gift with purchase" -- I bought a bunch of other breeds of chicks last year, and the nice fellow added a few bonus chicks.

So fun! We have chickens, too! (And goats--can't wait to try the mohair in some socks once we shear and spin Monty's fleece!)

Happy socks!

We have two llamas too. They are due to get sheared next spring, and then I get to try spinning too.
